You can quickly lose any amount of weight. But first, you must complete the most challenging task.
Are you ready to take on the challenging task?
I'll give you a heads up: the challenge is with yourself.
To put things in perspective, you must burn more calories than you eat, as everyone has said. The arithmetic is straightforward.
This is the point at which the ghosts must be exorcised. The demons are in your mind, controlling you and preventing you from doing something that will help you lose weight and reach your target.
"Craving" and "Laziness" are the demons in question. If you can control them, you can control anything.
To begin with, Imagine a picture of yourself, a ripped, chiselled version of yourself with six-pack abs. Imagine yourself in the shape of a model you admire.
(If you want to go the extra mile, draw your face on one of the fitness models/celebrities and hang it on your mirror to motivate you.)
I would join a gym but never go because my laziness would prevent me from doing so.
I'd go on a diet for a while, but the inevitability of cravings would make me weak when I saw mouthwatering, finger-licking food.
I wasn't overweight. However, I had gained a significant amount of weight and fat around my stomach, making me seem older and depressed.
I would join a gym but never go because my laziness would prevent me from doing so.
I'd go on a diet for a while, but the inevitability of cravings would make me weak when I saw mouthwatering, finger-licking food.
I still didn't lose any weight.
But here's what saved my life. Apart from all the big weight loss articles advising us to drink "Green tea" and eat a balanced healthy diet starting with a good breakfast, a balanced healthy diet and a balanced healthy diet starting with a good breakfast will help us achieve our target. I followed a celebrity's advice.
Terry Crews is a well-known star.
He is a well-known Hollywood celebrity as well as a former NFL player with a well-sculpted physique.
Now, he advised new gym goers like me to go to the gym for 21 days straight, not working out if you don't want to, only going and working out if you can, or just sitting and watching or reading, whatever you want to do.
I took his advice and, because I worked late, I made it a point to go to the gym every night at 8.30 p.m. Whatever happens, I swore I'd go to the gym for 21 days straight.
Often it's 8.30 p.m., and other times it's 9 p.m. Every night, I'd go to the gym.
Every day, I will come home exhausted from work and have no desire to do something, let alone work out in a gym. I'd then remind myself of the oath I'd taken, and how I'd fought demons.
In retrospect, I could have just gone to the gym and changed; if I didn't feel like working out, I wouldn't.
I went to the gym first, changed into something more comfortable, and stayed for a few minutes. I kept an eye on the people around me, and after 15 minutes, I too began working out.
I began by using the tread mill. For the first five days, I waited in the lounge before gradually moving to the workout area. But it worked out perfectly for the rest of the 21 days.
I became used to the GYM lifestyle. After the workout, I'd be in desperate need of a workout.
For this, I defeated the inner demon of "laziness" in my mind.
I made sure to eat a hearty, nutritious breakfast as part of my diet. That means I wouldn't eat something with carbs if it was served to me.
My breakfast consisted primarily of egg whites, brown bread, or South Indian dishes such as Idli Dosa, which are steamed foods that are extremely healthy. Make sure to eat like a lion and make breakfast your largest meal of the day.
After a hearty meal, I didn't feel like bingeing and stayed energised until lunchtime. As a result, I've kicked the habit of snacking on fast food or processed foods in between meals.
Dinner and lunch I specifically avoided three items. Rice, potato, and flour (processed) (Maida in Hindi). I ate more poultry meat, whole grain bread or Rotis, as well as plenty of vegetables and salad.
At least three times a day, I drank green tea.
To keep myself hydrated, I made sure I drank plenty of water.
My friends would taunt me while eating a delicious meal of red meat, rice, KFC, pizzas, deep shakes, and french fries.
This was the most difficult fight I'd ever faced. I had to resist the temptation to consume even a single slice. Since one piece leads to another, the buck had to come to a halt there.
No, I said. I wouldn't touch a single one of them.
If you can't resist the temptation, don't sit next to them because the food's aroma may tempt you. Simply walk away.
Remember the image of the chiselled fit man? You, who hung a morphed portrait of a fitter on your mirror. Think about it. You must tell yourself that you must be a better version of yourself.
I wish you luck in achieving your objective.
Keep in mind that the real war is between yourself and the demons in your head.
