Healthy diets for healthy person
Most of us stay out of the house due to being busy with our daily work and eat food outside.
And due to paucity of time, we eat whatever we get in front. This can be one of the main reasons why your health may gradually deteriorate.
But you should not worry, here are some food items that are available in the market and eating them is also good for your health.
1. Rice/Dal/Biryani
Rice can be one of the many foods that could be bad for you. The reason for this is that rice, with all the things that we get in it like added vegetables, spices, sauces, kasundi, pappadam, etc., all these elements are very low in fiber content. The processed foods we get in our stores and restaurants are also high in sodium and fat.So, while enjoying your meal, keep your mind clear about what you are eating.
You can easily replace rice with more fiber-rich vegetables and pulses like chana dal, moong dal, rajma, ragi, etc., in place of rice. When it comes to the other sources of carbohydrates, like pasta, potatoes, etc., you should look at the labels to check for carbohydrates and added sugar. Instead of starch like potatoes or pasta, opt for potatoes or rice along with nuts, oats, brown bread, etc.
If you like sambar, you can also replace it with dals and broths that are rich in fiber like masoor dal, urad dal, moong dal, black cumin, etc.
2. Sweets
While consuming sweets, you need to be very mindful about what is being added to the sweet. You should always avoid powdered chocolates, white chocolate, brown chocolate, coconut and also sugar-added rice, chhana, etc. Even while enjoying your cup of hot chocolate, stick to the milk.
3. Fried, fried, fried
When it comes to fried food, let us be clear about one thing. It contains a lot of fat. So, you can still eat fried food and have it in moderate quantity, as it contains no extra salt and no added sugar. But if you tend to enjoy a lot of fried food, limit it to a couple of times a week. Make sure you ask the restaurant about the fried items and do a check for additional fat.
4. Consume a lot of vegetables and salads
Vegetables are good for your health. The reason is that they are loaded with iron, calcium, vitamin A, and also vitamins like B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, etc. They are also high in fiber and they will keep you healthy, if you include them in your daily diet.
A good example of a vegetable is broccoli and brinjal, along with pumpkin, tomato, okra, spinach, etc., are also high in fiber and low in fat. Also, a lot of salads contain a lot of proteins. For example, if you are having a leafy salad, include lots of spinach and kale along with carrot, beetroot, cabbage, cucumber, etc.
5. Lean meats like chicken, fish, etc.
When it comes to lean protein sources, it is obvious that it is the lean meat that will have a great nutritional value, as it is low in fat, cholesterol, etc. There are other options too like fish, eggs, yoghurt, etc. But you can't go wrong with chicken. It is considered as one of the lean protein sources that people can opt for.
